To the Illustrious Lady,
The Lady Claudia Matthea Matthei,
Roman Gentlewoman

Gentle star, which to your Star united
The amorously, and you same, and the others erring;
Were Heaven I, which with so many eyes, and so many
Would see your clear infinite light.
Were between us the high Star, and accepted gratefully
Which in East to the Sun blazes forward,
Hespera now is, which your good holy rays
You hide from this, and discover to the other life.
Oh divine Plato, I not 1000 eyes, and 1000
Require, but of being Mole, be careful not be seen
The fiery Star, which is given me in chance;
The which sail in high, or in low turns,
Seems which angry seeing me always sparkle
(Almost new Orion) and war, and death.

The man will take the ordinary hand of the lady, and they will do together the Riverenza grave, with 2 Continenze: then walking they will do 2 Passi grave, and 1 Seguito ordinario, starting with the left foot: and they will do the same with the right foot: then they will do 2 Puntate grave, 1 forward, and the other back, with 2 Riprese to the left side, and 3 Trabuchetti, starting with the left: they will do the same to the right flank, that is starting the Puntate with the right foot, and doing the Riprese, and Trabuchetti to the one and the other side, as of above.

In the second time, they will take the right hand, and will do 2 Puntate: and letting go, they will do 2 Passi turned, and 1 Seguito facing: then walking together to the right, they will do the Puntate, the Passi, and the Seguito another time, starting with the right foot.  Taking it then with the left hand, they will do 2 Puntate, 1 forward, and the other back, starting with the left foot: and letting go, they will do together to the left 2 Passi gravi, and 1 Seguito ordinario, starting with the left.  After touching the right hand another time, they will do 2 other Puntate, 1 forward and the other back, starting with the right: walking then to the right, they will do another 2 Passi gravi, and 1 Seguito ordinario, starting with the right foot.

In the third time they will take the left hand; and they will do all the same things, and actions, that they will have done in the Change of above: to the end they will return to take the ordinary hand; and when they will let go of the left hand the first time, they will be turned to the right.

To the sciolta of the Sonata

They will do the Riverenza, and walking, they will do 4 Seguiti ordinarii, starting it with the left foot: then letting go, they will turn to the left, and will do another 2 Seguiti, the lady going to one head of the room, and the man to the other.  After that they will do 2 Seguiti scorsi, touching the right hand, and meza Riverenza passing:  then changing place, they will do another 2 Seguiti scorsi.

They will return then to do 2 Seguiti scorsi, touching the left hand, and doing a meza Riverenza as above; the which done, the man presently letting go the hand which he had with the left, will take the same left hand of the lady with his  right, and doing together 2 Seguiti scorsi, and with the Riverenza they will end the Ballo.
