To the Most Illustrious Lady
The Lady Virginia Savella Vitella,
Marquesse of Andridoca

If the great Tuscan poet is as famous,
As his vile laurel grove
Made immortal with the fair amorous saying;
Virginia holy and gentle,
Born of high lineage, and generous:
How much to hurt you you are able
Of the Heaven; which at times yours
Has not given to me more ornate manner;
Because your excellent name would be
More than the Laurel, and more than Pearls, and Scarlet.
