To The Illustrious Lady
The Lady Lucretia Crescenza Frangipane
For to make so much is in the Heaven grace, and beauty
To appear to mortal like, and true,
Jove deprives the most sublime Sphere
Of one star, which exceeds each beauty:
Thence the world thence is adorned, and each darkness
Thence chased, and Rome, whence the proud dwelling
Thence renders, and with his renowned name hopes
Of Cheza alone to return it each prize.
Nor the good, which the eighth sphere blinded
Thence would be, moreover which there rests the world adorned
Of sight so heavenly, and so great;
Since that thence felt to resound already about
Immortal fame of grace, and virtue adorned,
Which such the God put not forth, which lights the day.

In Praise of the Illustrious Lady
The Lady Lucretia Crescenza Frangipane

This balletto will be done in Three: and standing the people, as
is had in the picture of the Cascarda, Squilina,
and taking them by the hand, they will do together the Riverenza, with
2 Continenze, 1 to the left, and the other to the right: then letting
it go, they will turn 2 Seguiti to the left.
In the second time, they will walk with 4 Seguiti ordinarii, turning
together to the end of these: then they will do 1 Seguito spezzato with
the left forward, 2 Passi presti starting with the right, the
Cadenza, 2 beats of Campanelle with the same foot, and 1 Trabuchetto to
feet even with the right flank back.
In the third time, the man alone will do 3 Seguiti ordinarii: to the
end of which he will be found facing to the ladies, with 3 Trabuchetti;
starting the Seguiti with the left foot, and the Trabuchetti with the
right. Together then they will do 1 Seguito spezzato with the
left forward: 2 Passi presti, and the Cadenza, starting with the right:
2 beats of Campanelle with said foot, and 1 Trabuchetto back to feet
even, standing with the right flank outward.
In the fourth time, the ladies will do the same change which the man
will have done; then they will follow doing together the other things
which follow in said change, said of above.
In the fifth time, the man will start to do the braiding, doing 3
Seguiti scorsi: and reached each one to their place, they will do 3
Trabuchetti facing, starting it with the right with the same change of
above, that is 1 Seguito spezzato with the left forward, 2 Passi
presti, and the Cadenza, starting it with the right: 2 beats of
Campanelle with said foot, and 1 Trabuchetto to feet even with the
right flank back.
In the sixth time, they will take hands in the wheel, and will do
together 2 Passi, and 1 Seguito to the left, starting it with the left
foot: they will do the same to the right, starting with the right: then
letting go the hands, they will do 2 Seguiti spezzati flanked back,
starting it with the left, and 2 Trabuchetti gravi to feet even, 1 to
the left, and the other to the right.
In the final time, they will do together 3 Seguiti, 1 forward, 1
back, and the final turned to the left with 3 Trabuchetti facing: the
man then will turn 2 Seguiti to the left hand: and the ladies thence
will do 2 others scorsi, putting the man in the middle, as they were in
the start: finally with the Riverenza they will finish the Ballo.
