To the Most Illustrious Lady,
The Lady Elena Cappello Cappelli

This to our working shining star,
Life to my heart, and light to the eyes empowers;
By the furrow I of Love quiet the waves,
Without fearing of rock, or of storm.
Diana in forest, or in Heaven form so lovely
Not ever showed, nor has hair so blond:
Leave Love Laurel, and in that fair bosom hides from you,
And sets again there the darts, and the brands.
Lovely April in the winter she thence leads to,
And where of the fair foot are the tracks imprinted
Born this, and that flower lovely, and pleasant.
Sweet my dear, and precious eyes,
If for to give light to the world the Heaven were choosing you,
Not would my labors ever be quenched
