King Lear

You’ve heard the buzz, now see the show! The Carolingian Guild of Mummers will be presenting “King Lear” by Master William Shakespeare on March 20, 2004 at The Center for the Arts in Natick (TCAN). This will be a much richer production than is customary in the Society and we look forward to sharing our many months of labor with you all. The site will open at 3:00 pm so that theatre-goers might meet their friends and make merry. A supper-board with a Welsh theme (in honor of the subject of the play) will be prepared by the formidable Marian of Edwinstowe (late of Battlefield Bakery) and will be served tavern-style beginning at 4:30, for a mere $5. At 7:30, the show will go on!

Tickets for the show are being handled somewhat differently than usual. They will be reserved seating, just like a real theatre. Because our hosts will be advertising this show in their broadsides, their subscribers will be entitled to purchase tickets also, so our evening show may have a few foreigners who dress funny in amongst us. This will be an opportunity for our arts to reach a much wider audience than usual. Tickets will be $12 in advance and $14 at the door, and you will surely wish to get your tickets early. Your mundane friends and relatives are encouraged to attend our public shows, on Friday March 19, 2004 at 7:30 and Sunday March 21, 2004 at 2:00. To reserve tickets, please contact TCAN at http://www.natickarts.org or at 508-647-0097.

Up until January 1, 2004 you can also obtain tickets by sending in payment to our reservations clerk, Aleksander Yevsha (Alex Newman, 29 Dracut St, Dorchester, MA 02124, 617-288-9762, yevsha@carolingia.org).  Make checks payable to “SCA, Inc. Barony of Carolingia.” We will assign you the best possible seats based on a first-come first-served basis. You will have the choice of receiving your tickets in the mail when they become available or picking them up at the gate when you check in.

There is no site fee, although donations are requested from those attending the event who do not also attend the performance.
