Torneo Amoroso (Tournament Lover)
Balletto of M. Battistino;
In Praise of the Illustrious Lady
The Lady Lilia Crescenza Frangipane
The man will take the left hand of the lady, and they will do
together the Riverenza, with 2 Continenze; then walking, they will do 2
Puntate, and 1 Doppio, starting always with the left foot, and then
with the right: they will do the same another turn, that is 2 other
Puntate, and 1 Doppio, starting with the right foot: and following said
walk, they will do 4 Seguiti ordinarii. The man will then let go
the lady facing to one head, or to the other of the hall, and he will
do 4 Riprese, 2 to the left, and 2 to the right, with 2 Passi flanked
together with 1 Seguito back: they will return then to do another 4
Riprese, 2 to the right, and 2 to the left; then changing place, they
will do 2 Passi gravi, and 1 Seguito ordinario, the man going in the
place of the lady, and the lady in that of the man.
Then, without taking the hand, the man alone will do 1 Puntata; after
the which the lady will do the same. The man will return then to
do another with the right, and the lady will do the same. The man
will do 2 Seguiti flanked, and the lady will do the same: and they will
return to do all these things another turn, as first; the man always
starting, and the lady following, with walking always by the length of
the hall: then facing they will do 4 Riprese, 2 to the left, and 2 to
the right, with 2 Passi gravi, and 1 Seguito ordinario back: similarly
facing they will do 4 Riprese, 2 to the right, and 2 to the left, with
2 other Passi gravi, and 1 Seguito ordinario; then the man passing
before the lady, he will return of new to the right hand, and the lady
will go to the left; where walking always, they will go to even without
taking hand. The lady then starting the same actions which the
man will have done in the first walk, she will do those together with
the other things all said of above.
To the Sciolta of the Sonata in Gagliarda
First they will do facing the Riverenza, then separating them, they
will do 6 Seguiti spezzati, 2 turned to the left, and 4 forward, going
one to one head, and the other to the other of the hall, where facing
they will joust, doing 2 Seguiti spezzati scorsi, touching to the end
of these the right hand; then passing, and changing place, thence they
will do another 2, turning at the end to the left hand. They will
do the same, touching the left hand, in all the acts, as of above,
returning each one to their place. After facing they will do 4
Seguiti spezzati flanked forward, and 4 Trabuchetti, giving 4 blows to
the hands, that is starting the first Trabuchetto with the left foot,
and giving a beat to the right hand; and starting the second with the
right, and giving a beat to the left; and so it will follow in
succession until the fourth Trabuchetto: the which done, taking the
hands, they will do the Riverenza.
To the Sciolta of the Sonata in Saltarello
They will do 4 Seguiti ordinarii flanked back, and the turns of the
Ballo named Contrapasso; then walking,
they will do 4 other Seguiti ordinarii forward changing place; to the
end of which they will be turned to the left hand; then facing they
will do another 4 Seguiti flanked forward: after the which, the
lady will do another turn the turns said of the Contrapasso, and the man will do 4 Seguiti
turned, 2 to the left, and 2 forward: then taking him the ordinary hand
of the lady, and pausing her wherever they will return most
commodiously, they will end the Ballo with doing together the Riverenza.
