Opening Ceremony Details and Murder Scenario
Bottles
There are three relevant port bottles. All three are Presidential
Porto; all three are filled with grape juice. They are:
-
Bottle 618867 (Tawny) -- The Drugged Bottle -- contains a mysterious drug,
which should theoretically separate Jeff's spirit from his body, and allow
it to be switched with Bob Enfield's. Dig Freedman's plot.
-
Bottle 910581 (Ruby) -- The Sickening Bottle -- contains a mild poison,
which will make the drinker sick after about an hour. Bob Enfield's
plot.
-
Bottle 910584 (Ruby) -- The Deadly Bottle -- contains a fast-acting, deadly
poison. Charley Sumner's plot.
The Deadly Bottle
Charley, knowing that there is supposed to be consumption
of port during opening ceremonies, puts the deadly bottle in Plymouth,
on the side table. (About 6:15)
The Sickening Bottle
Bob Enfield, who has suggested to Jeff that he should
drink a toast to the crew or something, to show his gratitude for them,
gives this bottle to Keri Reuss to put out on the table in opening ceremonies.
She puts it next to the Deadly Bottle. (About 6:20)
The Drugged Bottle
Dig Freedman mailed this Fedex to Jeff, so that it
would arrive intact (not trusting the airlines with it). Things screwed
up in shipping, so it just arrived Friday afternoon. Jeff made a
quick trip to get it, and got sidetracked as soon as he got back, accidentally
leaving it in the common area, near registration.
Sharon Tripp, being helpful, sees the port bottle
in the common area and decides that it probably belongs to opening ceremonies,
where she knows there is supposed to be consumption of port. She
moves it into there, next to the other two. (About 6:25)
Scene
Kat White and Jeff have a minor fight just before
opening ceremonies start; she is trying to get his help with something
relating to the hotel, but he wants to get Opening Ceremonies started,
and tells her she'll just have to wait. Only takes a minute, but
should be noticeable to those around. Kat storms off and sits down
in the audience.
Opening (6:30)
Opening Ceremonies begin. Jeff speaks for a
minute. Any nonsense that needs to happen, happens. Jeff calls
the crew to come up and join him. He compliments the crew for all
of their hard work. Tells Kat to go get the port from the back; Kat
goes to the back, and takes the Tawny bottle (the Drugged bottle).
She brings it to the front. Jeff pours himself a jigger, raises it
on high, toasts the crew, drains it down -- and dies dramatically.
Justin, who is near Jeff, steps forward, shakes
him a bit, puts his fingers on Jeff's neck, and announces that he is dead.
He calls for someone to go get Bob Enfield; Jeff pops up and runs out.
Jeff is replaced by the Jeff Diewald Dead Body Card. Justin tells
everyone that they can open their envelopes now, and that they should just
go start their games, and let the professionals deal with this.
Afterwards
Stephanie Olmstead-Dean's character sheet says that
she got her people to take over the scene, but by that time, all three
bottles in the room had gotten mixed up. She has assigned several
people to begin looking into it. And so, the confusion begins...
Conclusion Details and Scenario
The game will climax at Any Port in a Storm, at about 1:30am.
At this point, the Vortex will open wide, and its shape will be influenced
by the ambient beliefs of the people around it. I will call for a
volunteer hand-counter or two. Then I will call for everyone to identify
which group they primarily identify with. The group that has
the most belief will "win", and a reality related to that group will be
exposed. This will be one of the following (the details should be
vamped at the time):
-
Wieners: The Wienerverse, filled with hot dogs, and ruled by The
Great Sausage. People exist there to worship and consume the hot
dogs, which are constantly being replenished by the Mayer Force.
-
Anti-Wieners: The home plane of Flippitatus, full of spatulas that
are sentient and wise beyond compare. "My God -- it's full of spatulas!"
The uber-spatula will address the populace, and tell them to follow ways
of peace and order.
-
Those in Black: A portal to a parallel universe where Ancient Lemuria
was never destroyed -- a place of harmony, peace, and deep spiritual togetherness.
Love, granola, etc.
-
The Followers of Set: The Home Plane of Set. A place of fire
and brimstone, ruled by the Great Serpent himself. He will begin
to cross into the Earthly Plane, to conquer and destroy, and place his
chosen people as Masters of All Reality.
-
The High Church of Elvis or the Space Brigade (may be combined):
Graceland, the Planet. A world where Elvis stayed on Earth, and Graceland
now covers 2/3 of the American continent. Remember a cheesy southern
accent while describing this one.
-
The Luddites: The Garden. A place of peace and harmony, where
no evil technology exists, and everyone lives off of the fruit of the land.
-
The ILF or the Millenium Group (may be combined): A version
of Earth which is very much like this one, but where the Vortices are under
far better control, and where the Vortex Mechanics can open and control
Vortices with ease. Essentially, the world that the ILF pretends
is true, where the Vortices are for education and entertainment, instead
of being deadly dangerous.
-
The Space Pirates: The Sulliverse, where people break into song at
any time, for no particularly apparent reason, where the bad guys always
lose (but always get a great song in before they do), the good guys always
win, and pretty much everyone lives happily ever after anyway.
-
The Toastbusters: Opens on whichever world the largest number of
Toastbusters are concentrating on.
Whichever one happens will begin to overwhelm the Earthly plane, and move
into it. If enough countervailing desire is applied, or Those in
Black use their disruptors, the Vortex will begin to close. Those
who want to will have a brief chance to jump to the other side before it
closes.
