Night Sky

I gaze upon the brilliant stars
Cool and silent in the perfect sky
In a moment of utter clarity
	I realize their distance
	Immense and uncrossable

I am alone

I would share this perfect sky with someone, each pinprick of light a new tale in the constellations of conversation My stories of Rasalgahue and Alnilam, however remain unvoiced in the night

I am alone

What good is dreaming of romance when the unbelievers scoff when those who cannot comprehend feign naive embarrassment or offer solemn pity?

I am alone

We all wander through the darkness under the cold, clear skies of night Moments of reflective desperation, stretching into countless hours of screaming emptiness bounded by loneliness

and the stars are no closer
